	KSFO History
		KSFO occupied temporary studios on the 17th floor of the Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill from April of 1942 until the following August, while permanent facilities were being constructed as an annex to that hotel.
		KSFO continued to operate KWID for a few years, but soon took a lesson from the networks, who had learned in the thirties that international stations could not be made to be profitable, and shut down the stations.
		KSFO moved its studios to the Fairmont Hotel in 1955, and the station was sold the following year to Gene Autry's Golden West Broadcasters.

		The Federal Communications Commission granted KSFO a construction permit February 2, 1937 to move its city of license and transmitter from Oakland to San Francisco; to raise daytime power from 1,000 to 5,000 watts (1,000 watts at night); and install a new vertical radiating antenna tower.
		KSFO's studios were moved in February 1952 from One Nob Hill Circle (the Mark Hopkins Hotel) to a new combined radio-television studio-office building at 2655 Van Ness (at Greenwich Street), sharing space there with commonly-owned KPIX (TV).
		KSFO was sold by Golden West Broadcasters (Gene Autry; the estate of Ina Autry; and Stanley B. Schneider) to the King Radio Broadcasting Company for 6 million dollars.

		KSFO pre-empted Dr. Laura Schlessinger's three-hour program on Friday in what station officials billed as a "no-holds-barred broadcast" to answer their critics on-air.
		While KSFO billed the show by saying "both friends and critics of the station are invited to participate," they didn't take calls for the first 90 minutes of the show and fielded only a handful of mostly positive e-mails and calls throughout.
		Several times, the KSFO hosts complained that liberals were trying to limit their free speech, and that Spocko -- who got 15 visitors a day to his blog before this controversy -- was part of an organized liberal plot to silence them.

		With his contract with KSFO set to expire on June 30, it is my guess that Talk Radio Networks, Michael's syndicator, has signed with KNEW, 910 AM, the new talk station that is owned by Clear Channel.
		And Savage took KSFO along for the ride; the station was basically invisible in the ratings book in January 1995 when it switched from a liberal "radio with attitude" to the "hot talk" format.
		In the latest ratings book, KSFO was tied for Number 2 in San Francisco and a solid second in the San Jose rating book, trailing only KGO in both surveys.

		This was prepared for KSFO, the station "that brings you all of the games played by the San Francisco Giants." The middle of the booklet has photos of the on air personalities of the station.

		In High School, tt was great o pop into my pickup and head to lunch in time to hear Gene Nelson sign off with the "I'll never grow up" song from Peter pan, the KSFO "Sounds of the city" ID, and what I still think is the best News theme music I've ever heard.
		KSFO jingles, Sound of the City, Created, arranged and conducted by Allyn Ferguson, vocals, Johnny Mann Singers.
		Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I've always thought that this very was classy and special (even "back then" when I had less between my ears.
