		Like other KSTP lead stories, this one landed on page B3 in the Star Tribune, in the Briefs section, where the paper reported that the officer was in fair condition, and the injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening.
		Emboldened by the previous nights successes, KSTP led their 10PM news the very next night with the same story, only inexplicably the officer was now out of the hospital, and resting at home.
		Note that KSTP didn’t abandon the rest of their usual approach to the news on those nights, as they broadcast a total of over 16 minutes of crime/mayhem in those same broadcasts, roughly two-thirds of the news hole.

		KSTP photojournalist Joe Caffrey and reporter Dean Staley were embedded with the Army's 101st Airborne Division when it moved north from Kuwait into Baghdad.
		The KSTP find is significant because it indicates that explosives were still at the site after the war began -- and because it shows two American soldiers looking over the material and leaving it apparently unsecured.

		The Twins and KSTP agreed on a four-year deal last month but were unable to announce it until today because of language in the current contract with WCCO.
		The length of the agreement means KSTP will be the Twins' radio partner for the first season in the new downtown Minneapolis ballpark in 2010.

		On Thursday a videotape taken on April 18, 2003, nine days after the fall of Baghdad, by an ABC television affiliate in Minneapolis, KSTP, embedded with U.S. troops, clearly showed U.S. troops at the weapons dump uncovering an entire storage bunker full of high-powered explosives that soon went missing.
		Fred Thompson, the former Republican senator from Tennessee, went on Fox's "O'Reilly Factor" to discuss how "the [explosives] stories have been pretty much discredited" and how it was clear that "in all probability [the explosives] were not there" when the war began.
		Late on Friday afternoon, the only story threatening to dislodge Al-Qaqaa from the front page came when a new tape was released of Osama bin Laden, the man Bush once promised to capture "dead or alive." Bin Laden was obviously alive.

		In an unusual break from its competitors, KSTP-TV refused to air a controversial ad defending U.S. policy in Iraq that the station says unfairly claimed the media is misleading people about the lack of progress in the war.
		ABC affiliate KSTP, Channel 5, declined to air the 60-second ad, which features images of smoke pouring from the World Trade Center and testimonials from soldiers who talk of the value of fighting terrorists in Iraq rather than at home.
		KSTP General Manager Rob Hubbard said the station refused to run the ad, which began running last week, because of the claim that the media are intentionally misleading citizens.
