Under terms of the contract, KTUL became a part of KATV, Inc. This arrangement continued until early in 1965 when the name of the company was changed to Griffin-Leake TV, Inc. General Manager William F. Swanson was made a vice president of the corporation.
The tower, located two miles east of Coweta, became the second tallest in the nation when it was completed.
KTUL has received the Edward R. Murrow award and the Wrangler Award from the Western Heritage Foundation for the best television documentary of 1966.

At least at KTUL there was a kindly, understanding engineer who would wake me up on the couch to do station breaks.

KTUL 8.1 does seem to be weak for me as well, I live in Broken Arrow and sometimes it doesn't come in, but since I am primarily COX, i don't use the antenna very often, mostly just to get PBS.
Last time KTUL had a problem for a couple of days with a decoder, I emailed them and the guy in charge replied and apologized and said it was fixed, and it was.
Ktul is a problem to the south as they protect analog channel 10 in Ada.

The BOK Tower (formerly One Willliams Center) is the tallest building in Oklahoma and was designed in 1975 by Minoru Yamasaki and Associates, the same architect who designed the World Trade Center in New York.
This structure is very similar to a single tower from the WTC in looks and construction.

Lacking persistent rotation and any visible RFD wrapping, I proceeded to let that cell go and moved to the next on moving in over Coweta.
Departed Little Rock, AR by mid-morning and targeted areas of East Central OK. By 4pm, an explosive tower developed near Beggs, OK. Taking an east road near Mounds, baseball sized hail was observed near the intersection of N4000 and E0830.

The Enterprise Electronics dish on Brookside went up in late '91 or '92, and it was not quite state of the art at that time.
The radar at the tower in Coweta went up in late '03, but judging from the subpar display, it's likely a refurb.

Mazeppa regarding the Channel 8 tower in Coweta, we realized the kilowattage of the tower during certain times of inclement weather would boost the signal well beyond the allotted 2000GHz.
Mazeppa utilizing a Stadler LX fire extinguisher (the cherry red model with automatic nozzle surpressor, and by the way, a favorite party favor used by Betty Boyd) to eliminate mid-range blazes.
The show continued without mishap and the Coweta tower was eventually upgraded to a Fitz Gyro-flap Techno-sealer in the late 70's.

I guess the radar at the tower in Coweta could be new, but knowing how cheap Scripps is, it's probably a retread.
For instance, KOTV and KTUL have the most recent version, which I believe was rolled out in November.
KJRH has a better version now then they did a couple of years ago when the "debuted" Vipir.
