 KV6 Engines
The KV6 first saw use in the 800 series as a 2.5L development of the K4 where it gained something of a poor reputation compared to the earlier Honda 2.7L V6 of previous 800s.
In fact, the 2.0L KV6 in the 75 range was eventually dropped in favour of the 1.8L Turbo, as was the 160bhp 2.5L KV6 in the ZT.
However the 2.5L KV6 in the Rover 75 is good for around 175bhp, but the 2.5L KV6 also appeared as a 160, 180 and 190bhp set-up in the MG ZS and ZT.

Power is nothing without control, but fortunately the TDL KV6 knows the meaning of both.
With a large cabinet, twin bass drivers and a bass reflex port, the KV6 is capable of powering tunes along at substantial volumes - even in larger than average rooms.
For a large floorstanding speaker that has the power and control to match it looks, the TDL KV6 is the boss at this price range.

The fourth TM domain has positively charged residues at every third residue and acts as a voltage sensor, which triggers the conformational change that opens the channel pore in response to a displacement in membrane potential [9].
These subunits do not themselves possess any functional activity, but appear to form heteromeric channels with Kv2 subunits, and thus modulate Shab channel activity [10].
Coexpression of Kv6 subunits with Shab subunits has a slowing effect on Shab channel inactivation at strong depolarising potentials, but has little effect on channel inactivation at intermediate potentials [11].

Tomb KV6 in Egypt's Valley of the Kings was the final resting place of the 20th-dynasty Pharaoh Ramesses IX.
However, the archaeological evidence and the quality of decoration it contains indicates that the tomb was not finished in time for Ramesses's death but was hastily rushed through to completion, many corners being cut, following his demise.
While the sarcophagus itself has long since vanished, Ramesses IX's mummy was one of those found in the Deir el-Bahri cache (DB320) in 1881.

Now the KV6 is not the smoothest of engines, there is a bit of a flat spot around the 3,000 rpm mark but once past this it pulls like a train.
It seems there is one flaw in the design in as much as the engine breather system is fed into the throttle body which means that a slightly oily mixture is fed in to the engine.
This nothing new or different from any other manufacturer but in the case of the KV6 with the VIS the oil becomes sticky with heat and makes valves harder to operate leading to the electric control motors to become over worked and eventually fail.

I have this theory (to try and stop myself worrying about my engine going bang) that a KV6 in a '97 Sterling that has covered about 80k without issue is probably not going to suffer from head gasket failure, because if it were it would have happened already.
My friends at Lonbgridge all seem to think that KV6 got better as time went on, and although 1997 represents a not so late one, it was some way into the production run...
I also know that some years back Rover Germany sent a letter to the dealerships stating that this engine is to be treated as 'unserviceable' in case of HGF and should be replaced completly....

You'd never know anything was wrong but I don't have the heart to sell it on - + I think the car itself is very nice.
If it would, then i'd be very interested in your 2 litre engine to finally sort this problem out.
