		Kv7 channels (also known as KCNQ channels) are composed of 4 subunits, each having 6 transmembrane stretches, a pore-loop and a voltage sensor.
		This is the classical structure of a voltage-gated K+ channel though this particular sub-family is exceptionally interesting as a pharmacological target as mutations in 4 out of the 5 known subunits are linked to diseases in the CNS (long QT syndrome, neonatal convulsions and deafness).
		It is by now known that the Kv7 channel family is heavily circuted in the CNS which may be the reason why potent Kv7 modulators have shown effect in a range of hyper and hypo-excitability disorders such as migraine, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, depression and schizophrenia.

		Quite simply the KV7 has the promise for overclockers to dial in very precise settings but was reluctant to give up its secrets.
		The KV7 is only really flawed by the power and floppy connector placement and ABIT engineers have done a commendable job packing a lot of features onto an ATX motherboard that is 2.5 inches narrower.
		Be aware of DIMM usage as we found the KV7 was stable with memory in DIMM 2 and 3 but not in DIMM 1 and 2.

		Because the KV7 is the smallest board on test, there are some layout issues too, such as poor placement of the ATX power socket between the CPU socket and Northbridge - perfectly positioned for the cables to restrict airflow to the CPU.
		If you plan on fitting a floppy drive to your PC this could also be problematic as the FDD connector is tucked away behind the bottom PCI slot, so you might have to go out and buy an extra long cable to route around the board.
		Performance-wise, the KV7 is very respectable, although none of the boards could be described as slow this month.

		I have an Athlon XP 2000+ (model 8) which I installed in an Abit KV7 motherboard.
		The Abit site says that the KV7 supports Athlon XP 266 FSB CPUs, but the KV7 is not listed on AMD's suggested motherboards.
		Let me know how you get on, the kv7 should be able to cope with a much faster chip than the 2000 as it has a 400fsb.

		About the only thing I can guess is perhaps compatibility with a higher clock frequency processor.
		The KV7-V has a 2-phase solution for the Vcore circuit (vs 3-phase on the KV7) and also lacks decent overclocking options.
		You can't select the FSB:AGP:PCI divider, and FSB range is limited depending on the processors' default.

		I do have a KV7 and have done some oc so I may be able to help.
		I discovered it was very simple to oc 2500+ to 3200+ on KV7 by just selecting 3200+ (400) in the BIOS, instead of 2500+ (333), and increasing vcore to 1.775V.
		I am runn ing bios 17, the reason I asked is some of the older bios versions had problems reporting temps to high but 17 seems to have fixed this.

		I have an Abit KV7, and I have 2 x 256mb sticks of PNY DDR400 RAM.
		Just in case you want to know, its an Abit KV7 mobo, an applebred core duron running at 143 x 14 x 1.575v = 2002MHz, hardware modded oced PNY 128mb fx5200, 350watt PSU, 2 optical drives and a hard drive.
		I don't see why there should be any problem, and I don't want to have to go out and buy a single stick of 512mb DDR400 because that would cost me more money and as a teenager I don't have a lot of that stuff.

		I got my brother and my friend to help me on this and my friend suspects that the problem might be the voltage, but considering I have a 550 Watt power supply I shouldn't have a problem.
		And he also recalls having the same problem with his KT600 KV7 a long time ago which he gave out to his girlfriend.
		Even though I have problems installing the 3dmarks2001 I can still play my games, I know installing a software is not a big problem, but this might lead to a bigger problem someday if I don't fix this now.
