Sanjay Gupta´s intense drama Kaante was to have six composers (Vishaal, Lucky Ali, Vijuh Shah, Adnan Sami and Sulaiman and Salim Merchant), and was to release on two CD´s.
Kaante now only has 6 tunes by Anand Raj Anand and 1 song by the team Vishal-Shekhar.
The soundtrack was scheduled to release in February with the previous compilation but due to the change should be releasing in the latter part of April.

The director claimed that Kaante was also ‘inspired’ by several well known crime thrillers but he’s going to have a hard time convincing the average punter.
Stretching at nearly 3 hours, it could have done with a little trimming, especially the two extraneous musical numbers, since they were done pretty much out of context, serving little purpose other than titillating eye-candy.
Kaante receives no points for originality, in fact most of the time I can’t help but feel that it’s a Hollywood action fest disguised in Hindi right down to its gaudy little shoes.

In spite of the great performances all around, perhaps the most convincing of them all is the deadly Dutt, who is possibly helped by his off-screen persona and his rugged looks.
The biggest surprise, of course, is actor-turned-director-turned-actor Mahesh Manjrekar who will have you cracking up with his antics and one-liners throughout the film, though he has a tendency to mumble and eat up some of his dialogues later on, much to audience irritation.
The tremendous hype the film has received has ensured a great initial for Kaante, however, whether it manages to sustain audience interest through the coming weeks remains to be seen.

The answer lies in the fact that Gupta’s films have actually been rather dire adaptations of Hollywood flicks whereas Abbas Mustaan have managed to make some of their films somewhat accessible to Indian audiences.
Pritish Nandy states that Kaante is not inspired by “Reservoir Dogs” which had me chuckling away at the man’s gall to stare you in the face and make a comment like that.
For those who have seen that cult classic, Kaante is much more than a mere inspiration of Reservoir dogs but a film which Gupta has adapted and made with tremendous style and energy.

Although it was a very pale imitation of Resvoire Dogs, Kaante still had slick editing & the cast dressed absolutely fabulous.
I was not aware that it had its origins in a HK film.
Anyhow ’’Kaante’’ is most boring movie I have ever seen.

Basically the story is about 6 master criminals, specialists in their own fields of crime, who are brought together, in a jail cell no less, and plot to hatch a major bank robbery.
Another of the actors in Kaante, Sanjay Dutt, was imprisoned in real life for his connections with Islamic terrorist networks operating in India, in particular after the major bombings of the Mumbai Stock Exchange and other key buildings in the 1980s.
However, being an actor of renown means that one is forgiven for slight indiscretions such as being directly linked with terrorist groups, and upon his release Dutt stepped back into his successful acting career!.

Slick shots, slicker dialogues and an edge-of-the-seat thriller… this is what one will expect on seeing the promos for Sanjay Gupta's Kaante.
It may not be anywhere near as good as Reservoir Dogs but is much better made than most Indian flicks.
On the whole, Kaante is definitely worth watching, if only for the excellent cinematography.

While in a holding cell, the six devise a plan to strike back against the cops: robbing a bank that services the police force.
Evoking the latter two may not necessarily be a good thing in general, but the slick Tinseltown-level sheen works in this context and is especially noteworthy given the slapdash nature of a lot of Bollywood productions.
The producers' plan is shop an edited version for a wider North American arthouse release, and as such the musical numbers have obviously been designed for easy removal--that is, what few musical numbers there are; there are only three total, two of which are largely focused on female back-up dancers rather than prominent characters.
