Catalina to the east, Tanjay City to the southeast and Basay to the west and it also shares a boundary with Kabankalan City of Negros Occidental on the northwest.
The improvement of road infrastructure of the city especially the provincial road that connects the City Proper, Kalumboyan and Manduao to the City of Kabankalan in Negros Occidental is deemed to open up a new dimension in the economic and social activity of the city.

The activity, which coincides with its 8th charter day celebration as a city, was witnessed by some 20 tourism and public information officers who were invited by the city for the said affair and other local government employees and residents.
Zayco said the city is currently scouting for old items which donors can entrust to the city for its museum.

BACOLOD CITY – Twenty-two participants of a church-sponsored youth camp in the southern Negros Occidental town of Cauayan were rushed to a hospital because of food poisoning after eating a cassava-based sweet Wednesday morning.
She said the victims were from barangays Carol-an and Oringao in Kabankalan City and were staying in adjacent tents inside the New Life Camp in barangay Isio where the five-day summer youth camp of the Mountain Baptist Churches Ambassadors for Christ, which opened Monday, was being held.
Pastor Dante Hervas, a camp director, said the youth camp is an annual activity of Baptist churches in the hinterlands of Kabankalan City and Candoni in Negros Occidental and the town of Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

Del Rio is noted to be "critical" of the administration of Mayor Pedro Zayco, the cousin of Achilles "Nene" Zayco, general manager of the Kabankalan Water District, and the alleged mastermind to the slay-try last Wednesday afternoon against Ortaliz.
Later, however, del Rio was also charged with malversation of public funds by the Kabankalan's Sinulog Foundation for alleged failure to liquidate the amount entrusted to him on the Off-Road Challenge event during the city's charter anniversary last Aug. 1-2, 2002.

Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental - After some years of silence in mine-dominated southern Negros, in the Visayas Islands in Central Philippines, farmers' groups, environmentalists, and church groups here are gearing up to stage a campaign against mining expansion.
Last Feb. 18 around 100 delegates coming from 34 organizations launched the multi-sectoral alliance Defend Patrimony Movement (DPM) south Negros whose aim is to resist the deluge of mining operations in a large part of southern Negros.

City agriculturist Nemesio C. Cañete said they will tap sugarcane leaves that are considered waste materials and other biomass to make environment friendly charcoal.
Cañete said the city government was willing to sponsor a training seminar for those interested in producing such charcoal.
