  The Holy Kabbalah (Rexroth)
Kabbalism and Hasidism seem, to a Christian taught in his own religion to view Gnostic and theosophic tendencies as the source of all heresy, to be a kind of Jewish heterodoxy.
Kabbalism is probably the only religious movement of the Gnostic type to come full circle in this fashion, to create mysteries and explain them, to hide secrets and discover them, and come at last back to the greater mystery from which it started, but with deeper insights and wider knowledge.
Kabbalism is the great poem of Judaism, a tree of symbolic jewels showing forth the doctrine of the universe as the vesture of Deity, of the community as the embodiment of Deity, and of love as the acting of God in man. Nobody knew this better than A.E. Waite.

 Mystical Encounters
Christian Kabbalism began in the 15th century with the Italian humanist Pico della Mirandola, who was captivated by the secrets of Kabbalah and intrigued by the possibility of using them to demonstrate the truths of Christianity.
The key to Christian Kabbalism lay in the idea that Kabbalah, traditionally held to be an oral tradition as ancient as the Old Testament, foreshadowed Christianity as well.
Kabbalism was an eruption of freedom, of images and experiences.

 The Role of the Soul
Since insight into Kabbalism is a process of gaining clarity and proper perspective on one’s inner world, and more important, of affirming and delighting in life through this process, it serves as a form of psychotherapy.
It would be greatly reductionistic to characterize Kabbalism as only a form of psychotherapy; much more is included in that lofty field of study.
For example, the transcendence of intellect is impeded by the pragmatism of practical functioning, and pragmatism is diluted by the depth and uninvolvement of intellect.

One thing’s for sure, and that is that whether or not celebrities are using kabbalism as a media boost, or to gain some sort of spiritual balance and foster their own spirituality remains to be seen.

Paradoxically, however, it was this same level that was associated in Kabbalism with the gods Thoth and Hermes.
This suggest that when the concrete mind operates, not as a bludgeon, but as a clear reflective mirror, is capable of becoming a "container" that can reflect (contain) the understandings that you point to.

Indeed, in my estimation, Kabbalism is more a religion for heretics and atheists than for those who profess faith in God.
In Kabbalism these ten attributes, called the sefirot, form an upside down tree rooted in the infinite and boundless universe which manifests itself in creation.
It’s important to note that the Kabbalic tree is a living organism and the energies of the ten sefirot are actively flowing and interacting with each other, rooted in Ein Sof, God beyond God, continually withdrawing into itself.

In the Latin collection of Pistorius the marrow of philosophical Kabbalism is presented in the form of certain terse propositions or dogmas, according to one of which the ways of eternity are thirty-two--Viæ æternitatis sunt triginta duo.
It tabulates the special graces and illuminations which may be communicated to man from above by means of these channels, and is not unimportant, because it shows that Kabbalism, even on its most speculative and formal side, had a practical application to the human mind, and was not a purely arbitrary system.
The comparatively modern accent of this tabulation will occur to the reader, but its quotation was necessary to exhibit the intellectual profit believed to follow from the study of Kabbalism, and still more that it was in the last resource the understanding of man methodised, embracing, as such, the entire circle attributed to human knowledge.

Whereas Hebrew Kabbalism is all but inaccessible except to a small group of devout Jews, and Taoist Yoga is steeped in Chinese symbolism, Western Kabbalism is universal in its ability to encompass all systems.

It has occasionally led them to use formulas whose implied challenge to the religious consciousness of monotheism was fully revealed only in the subsequent development of Kabbalism.
As a rule, the Kabbalists were concerned to find a formula, which should give as little offense as possible to the philosophers.

Here, she gives an affirming quote from Isaac Luria, a 16th century teacher of Kabbalism, articulating "God’s self-withdrawal so that there might be room for creation.
