 | | Most were created during and after the last glacial age about 10,000 years ago -- areas of land were scooped out by the heavy and slow moving glaciers that carried rocks with them, and when the glaciers melted and retreated, they left the waters in the spaces they dug out. |
 | | When I was growing up in Minnesota, and in vacationing in recent years, I went up north with my family in the summers to various lakes where we stopped at, or stayed at resorts usually for a week at a time in the summer. |
 | | I have written some songs about the Lakes of Minnesota, and the song that captures much of what I feel about the lakes is my song, "Lady of the 10,000 Lakes," and the muse for the melody came to me while standing on the shore of White Bear Lake on a sunny summer day. |
