	Bukidnon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Bukidnon is a landlocked province of the Philippines located in the Northern Mindanao region.
		According to oral history of the indigenous people of Bukidnon, there were four main tribes in Central Mindanao: the Maranao who dwell in Lanao del Sur, and the Maguindanao, Manobo and Talaandig who respectively inhabit the eastern, southern, and north-central portions of the original province of Cotabato.
		Bukidnon became a regular province on March 10, 1917 by virtue of the creation of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu under Act 2711.

		Bukidnon is a large province (8,294 square km) containing several plateaus that are separated by deep canyons and three major river valleys --the Pulangi, Tagoloan, and Cagayan.
		Formerly the Bukidnon Normal School, is one of the original eight regional normal schools or teacher-colleges throughout the country whose primary function is the pre-service preparation of quality elementary and secondary teachers.
		This area is considered as the coldest place in Bukidnon mainly due to its elevation and the forest environment in the upper slopes of the majestic Mt. Kitanglad.

	Bounty Comes to Northern Mindanao
		With hearty smiles visibly etched on their sun-burnt faces, 60 rice farmers of barangays Pinamangguan and Talasan, Kadingilan town in Bukidnon, now proudly show off to visitors two communal diversion dams worth P5.3 million from the Department of Agriculture.
		The dams which now irrigate about 200 hectares of riceland, were completed through a fund-sharing scheme between the DA and the recipient local government unit under the Agrikulturang Makamasa program.
		Of the total land area, 1,040 hectares are located in Bukidnon, 159 hectares in Misamis Occidental, and 14 hectares in Camiguin.

		The governor's message followed Bukidnon 3rd District Rep. Juan Miguel Zubiri's announcement that construction of the country's second ethanol plant will start this June.
		Zubiri added that there is a need for ethanol which is extracted from sugarcane, and Bukidnon is one of the identified areas for the intensified ethanol program.
