In Unix computing, Kahakai was supposed to be a language agnostic scriptable window manager for X11, but development ceased before it achieved this goal.
Kahakai was based on Waimea, and it did release a working manager that could be scripted with Python.

ALA KAHAKAI NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL ACT
The Ala Kahakai is the modern name for an approximately 175-mile portion of the ancient shoreline footpath, the Ala Loa ("Long Trail"), that once circumscribed the island of Hawaii.
In addition, the study suggested that the trail not only qualifies for designation as a National Historic Trail, but that it has the potential to be designated a National Scenic Trail (although to do so would trivialize its historical and cultural significance) and may well be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
The study presented four alternatives for the management of the Ala Kahakai: a) no action, b) a national historic trail (continuous), c) a state historic trail, and a national historic trail (discontinuous)--ultimately recommending alternative "b" as the best means to preserve and restore the trail and maximize public access to the entire route.

(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-08-24)
The Ala Kahakai is the modern term for a 175-mile portion of ancient shoreline footpath, or Ala Loa ("Long Trail), that once circled the island of Hawaii and connected more than 600 communities of the island kingdom of Hawaii between the 15th and 18th centuries.
A key section of the trail is associated with such important historical events as Captain Cook's landing and subsequent demise; Kamehameha's rise to power, consolidation of rule, and death; the overthrow of the ancient kapu religious system; and, the arrival of the first western missionaries.
The designation of the Ala Kahakai as a national trail is supported by the State, environmental groups, hiking organizations, Native Hawaiian organizations, and others.

Among the happy neighbors who live on Kahakai Drive are 4-year-old Cairo McConnell and her 3-year-old friend Jalen Campbell.
Back when the 1.1 million-square-foot convention center was first planned for an undersized lot in the area 10 years ago, many of the same people felt it would overwhelm the neighborhood, one of the last low-rise, affordable residential streets within walking distance of both Waikiki and Ala Moana Center.
No one is quite sure how Kahakai Drive has been able to resist the pressures of Manhattanization that have been swirling around it for at least four decades.
