Black Arabian Horses - Article - Kahal
But I must agree with them, for Kahal is a beautiful horse with plenty of type, whilst he is not Nations Cup standard, he is athletic, very elegant and with a lovely big stride.
Growing up, Kahal combined a very nice conformation with far too long legs and an impressive determination to be naughty, but he did achieve one Reserve Junior Championship and was usually in the top five.
Kahal is a beautiful horse, but in my view, his versatility, his health and soundness, his cheerfulness during a really heavy training scheme, are the things that make him truly outstanding.

Interestingly, the name Kahal may be from the traditional Jewish political institution (Kahal) during the dispersal of the race among the nations.
Under the Kahal or ancient Soviet, the Jews lived by themselves and governed themselves, doing business with the government solely through their representatives.
Education, health, taxes, domestic affairs, all were under the absolute control of a few men who constituted the ruling board.

The Jewish Journal Of Greater Los Angeles
Kahal Joseph is a Sephardic melting pot of a synagogue; a shul whose members — and whose 25 Torah scrolls — come from places as remote as China, Japan, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Iraq.
This was also the time that the Jewish Baghdadi customs started to develop: soulful, emotional melodies that, having survived thousands of years, are still sung today, and a tradition of Jewish learning that had its apotheosis with the publication of the Babylonian Talmud in the third century.
Yet the board of Kahal Joseph is finding that a reliance on ancient traditions is not enough to ensure the survival of a synagogue.

According to a marble inscription on the exterior wall of the synagogue, Kahal Kadosh Yashan was built in 5586 (1826), or four years after the destruction of the city by the Turkish army fighting against Ali Pasha, the ruler of Ioannina.
The synagogue of the city was initially established in Byzantine times, but it is uncertain whether this was the first synagogue built within the city walls, or whether there was an older synagogue at the same location.
The synagogue was built when the wealthiest merchants of the growing community of 5,000, moved in the nineteenth century outside the city walls to a new neighborhood, at a time when most Greek cities outgrew their original boundaries within their historic city walls.

Specifically, the problem with this verse is that the word "Vayakhel" refers to the creation of a "kahal," one kind of group, and "Adat" refers to the creation of an "edah," another kind of group.
With regard to "Kahal," we see that in one chapter in "Tehilim"/Psalms, Chapter 26, we find the word being used in a negative and a positive sense.
In connection with Shemot 12:6, he uses the image of the tree whose collection of branches are comparable to the "edah," whose common purpose is to bring life to the whole tree; but again, each individual branch is powerless to accomplish the purpose by itself.

The term "Kahal" denoted both the community (a communitry was also known as a Kahilat Kodesh or Holy Community) and the autonomous communal administration, the two concepts being identical.
The administrative functions: the assessment of state and communal taxes, the supervision of charitable institutions, etc. of the Kahal were performed by elective Kahal elders, while its rabbis ("doctores Judæorum") had charge of religious and judicial affairs.
One source notes that one representative to the Council was elected from each Kahal, and that to these Kahal delegates were added the six leading rabbis of Poland.
