| | KAHNAWAKE CONFERENCE (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-18) |
 | | This conference was called on Mohawk Territory for several reasons; the first and foremost reason was because these were the first people to accept the original Great Law which is known as the Iroquois Constitution established by the great Huron visionary and diplomat, Deganawida, and which they uphold to this day. |
 | | It was the Kanesatake, Kahnawake, Akwesasne and Ganienkeh Warrior Societies which maintained the three month standoff with such dignity, strength and determination and it is the Warrior Society which will continue to defend all the rights of the people on these Indian territories. |
 | | Clan Mothers from Kahnawake, Kanesatake and Ganienkeh listened to the League's goals and proposals, asked probing questions and stressed the importance of the vision that has been kept alive since Deganawida's time. |
