		The Kai is the religious leader of the Bajorans, elected from among and by the Vedek Assembly to a life term.
		The position of Kai suffered a tremendous blow when Winn betrayed the Prophets and aided Dukat in his attempt to release the Pah-wraiths from the Fire Caves, however.
		As with the Kai, the Pope is elected from among the senior ranks of the clergy, and the members of both the Bajoran religion and Catholicism are supposed to follow the leader's spiritual guidance.
