For large α, the shape of the Kaiser window (in both time and frequency domain) tends to a Gaussian curve.
The Kaiser window is nearly optimal in the sense of its peak's concentration around ω=0 (Oppenheim et al.
The sharp minima in the side lobes are places where the amplitude goes all the way to zero, but does not here because of the finite plotting resolution.

A year later, Liu was asked to leave, replaced by Chinese-AmericanKaiserKuo, who had founded the band with Ding and Zhang in the late 1980s.
By the time Kuo re-joined, Gu Zhong, a former member of The Breathing, had replaced Zhang.
American Kuo found himself at odds with his colleagues over the incident and over the band's participation in a distinctly anti-American concert in Shenzhen organized by Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV.

My friend KaiserKuo, former Tang Dynasty rockstar and currently Red Herring's correspondent in Beijing, has just written an article: China Net Star Cries Censorship.
Now the important thing to understand about Sister H., who is plain and not very talented, is that her stardom was basically the result of bloggers and chatroom denizens making fun of her - a situation which in her egotism and lack of sophistication she herself failed to understand.
The people at Bokee.com strongly denied having been asked by the authorities to stop featuring her blog on their front page, and pointed out that Sister Hibiscus' blog remains one of the most well-trafficked in the Bokee blog constellation.
Most of all I enjoyed the chapter in which Brahm interviews rock musician KaiserKuo, who has many very wise, very thought-provoking observations on why Westerners continue to search for a Shangri-La that doesn't exist, and how this search is affecting the way in which China is marketing itself.
Where I disagree a bit with Kaiser is his reference to this as a middle-age phenomenon.
Posted by: itha at March 21, 2005 10:45 AM I ducked into this comments thread to recommend KaiserKuo, but I see someone else already has.
Nowhere is that more true than in Beijing, capital of the world's most populous country, and home to the biggest, boldest and oldest rock scene in the country.
American-born Kuo played with Tang Dynasty, seminal hard rockers who became one of the few mainland acts to achieve star status.
Adss Kuo: "In China, the only way to support yourself is by playing concerts." His own experience shows why.
"I'm not sure what the stage show means for his music, but it's certainly going to be a new experience for the audience." Cui's foray into dance, Kuo says, simply marks another phase in the ever-evolving career of the former classical trumpeter.
China's godfather of rock is still an angry, if not so young man. Now a slightly balding 39-year-old, Cui remains critical of the bureaucracy, corruption and obsession with wealth in his country.
The drawing power of his rebellion has taken the rocker not only on tours to the U.S. and Europe but also brought an invitation to the upcoming Grammy awards ceremony.
Hello, and welcome to this week's China Beat, I'm your host Paul Kendall, although you won't be hearing much of me today as I'm happy to leave most of the talking to our special guest, KaiserKuo.
Anyway, over to Kaiser Guo, with whom I began by asking about the musical styles of his two bands.
Kaiser: Progressive metal for people who are familiar with the genre, they would expect that we would be doing something chopsier than we're actually doing.
The Stones clearly see big benefits to reaching out to an untapped market of over a billion people, yet less certain is how much the Chinese themselves will care for Western rock.
KaiserKuo, a rock musician, journalist, and China bureau chief of the magazine Red Herring, joins us with some analysis.

At the begining, TD was temporary formed for making soundtrack for chinese film.
The band's name, Tang Dynasty, was given by KaiserKuo (former member).
Tang Dynasty was a no name rock band like others until they have a chance to met Landy Chang, Taiwan businessman and founder of the Magic Stone Records (related to Rock Records, Taiwan) and TD was signed to this label.
Words: mama, baba, daddy, Fanfan, something that sounds suspiciously like Kaiser, pretty, cookie, and the following unmistakably Chinese words: jidan (egg), yazi (duck), deng (light, though it comes out more like "duh!"), and wawa which means doll.
Kuo tells himself that his situation is only temporary, and that once his nascent company Sinica is up and running his workload will be substantially reduced while his income isn't.
Kuo protests that he intends to do just that: "I will be officially on vacation for a week starting roughly August 15," he asserts, though unconvincingly.
Godfather of Chinese rock Cui Jian, somewhat of joke now as he clings to fading fame, got his start here in the early 1980s.
A decade later, Chinese-AmericanKaiserKuo, front man for the no-longer-existent headbanger outfit Tang Dynasty (Tang Chao), helped kick off a pretentious and fairly derivative heavy metal scene.
But it wasn't until a shipment of Nirvana CDs found its way into local record shops in the late 1990s that Beijing finally developed a genuine musical voice.
All sessions related to China filled up quickly, including the Update: China 2005 panel, which I moderated on Wednesday.
(Thanks to KaiserKuo for writing this very nice summary.) The China fever is apparently making many Indian participants jealous, according to this Indian journalist.
In my China update session, there was much talk by panelists about how China has defied all pre-existing economic development models.

In addition, we are happy to have KaiserKuo to moderate the forum.
For those few people that have not heard of him, Kaiser is currently the China Bureau Chief for Red Herring, a China rock icon (former lead guitarist for Tang Dynasty, and current guitarist for Dirty Deeds) and a fixture on the blogging scene.
Finally, this go round we have teamed up with Amcham to co-run this event.
