Billy Williams was a member of a small force that captured a radio station at Bita Paka near Rabaul, the capital of the German colony.
The captured territory was held and administered by Australia until Papua New Guinea became an independent nation in 1975.

In 1888, the Kaiser Wilhelmsland Plantagen-Gesellschaft was formed in Hamburg for the purpose of growing cocoa and coffee on a plantation at Jomba, 5 km south-west of Friedrich Wilhelmshafen.
Initially the company established its main trading station at Finschhafen on the mainland (Kaiser Wilhelmsland), with sub-stations at Hatzfeldthafen, Constantinhafen and Matupit, the latter on the Gazelle Peninsula.
The initial intention of the NGK was to bring thousands of settlers to the colony.

When war broke out on 4 August 1914 Acting Governor Haber was using the Komet to visit settlements on the mainland of New Guinea (Kaiser Wilhelmsland).
One other footnote of interest is the fate of the German Kaiser’s yacht Hohenzollern, illustrated on the colonial postage stamps from around 1900.
The Komet was not built as a naval vessel, and was classed as a yacht of 977 tons displacement, serving as the administrative vessel within German New Guinea.

Perhaps Japan switched sides in the war, and snatched up French colonies such as Indochina instead of German ones, because it seems that Kaiser Wilhelmsland isn`t conquered.
I`m guessing China became "forced to ally" because Japan attacked them, seeing as they are the blue color of "conquerers or territory".
