Kakamigahara is very conveniently situated, with an excellent transport system.
Kakamigahara has a rapidly developing manufacturing industry, notably in the automobile and aviation industries.

I believe it was absorbed into what is now Kakamigahara.
I am interested in what has become of the old Camp Gifu, that was adjacent to Naka-cho.
I’ve only been in Kakamigahara for a couple of years, so it’s hard to know what’s new and what’s not, but I’ll assume the air base was built on the old Camp Gifu since there’s nothing else I can think of that could have been a military base.

President Albrecht (center) met with a delegation from Kakamigahara City, Japan, and Chubu Gakuin University.
The delegation is trying to develop sister relationships between Kakamigahara City and its corresponding region and the state of Utah, as well as between USU and Chubu Gakuin University.

With a current population of 400,000, it was known in 1945 – as it is today – for its apparel businesses and trout fishing on the Nagara River.
Its only tangible connection to the war effort, besides a factory that manufactured machinery parts, was the Kakamigahara Air Base 15 kilometers to the east, home of the Imperial Army's 27th Infantry Regiment.
To the east, the Kakamigahara Air Base was undoubtedly on alert for air attacks, for numerous cities to the south along the Pacific coast – Nagoya, Toyohashi, and Hamamatsu – had already taken hits from American bombardiers.

The fuselage of a Mitsubishi J8M1 Shusui rocket interceptor was found in the1960ies in a cave in the Yokosuka area south of Tokyo.
The remains of the airplane have for many years rested at the Kakamigahara Airforce base outside Nagoya.
It was not alone as it also has company of a Aichi E13A "Jake" floatplane in the same poor condition.
