Kakheti is geographically divided into the Inner Kakheti to the east of Tsiv-Gombori mountain-range and the Outer Kakheti to the west of it.
Kakheti was an independent feudal principality since the end of the 8th century.
In 1918 – 1921 Kakheti was part of independent Democratic Republic of Georgia, in 1922 – 1936 part of Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic and in 1936– 1991 part of Georgian SSR.

Twenty children, ages 10-12, from all schools of Gurjaani (city in Kakheti region) were chosen through an application process and spent one week in the eco camp doing leadership activities, environmental education, English lessons, sports, art and hikes.
Miles toured the camp, met with the children and discussed with them various issues related to environmental protection, youth involvement in ecological activities, and the importance of creating and maintaining eco camps.
