Kalbas resides in Chapel Hill with wife, Suzanne, 13-year-old daughter, Sarah, and 4-year-old son, Joseph.
In 1998, Kalbas was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Coach of the Year for Division I. His teams reached the NCAA tournament eight times, advancing to the quarterfinals twice and the round of 16 another three times.
Kalbas is intent on finding players that aren't content to rest on their laurels as great tennis players.

Brian Kalbas is currently in his second year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after a succesful debut season posting a 20-9 record and coaching the Tar Heels to their 6th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
In 1998, Kalbas was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Coach of the Year for Division I. His teams reached the NCAA tournament eight times, reaching the quarterfinals twice and the round of 16 another three times.
Kalbas is married and has a 14 year old daughter and 5 year old son.

Jacqueline Kalbas graduated from the University of South Florida in 1969 with a BA in History.
Her son, Jay is a graduate student at the University of Tennessee and will receive his masters degree in Geology in the spring of 2002.

Kalbas, Robert W., age 79 of Parrish, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at St. Mary`s Hospital.
He was born February 22, 1926 in Chicago, IL., the son of William and Elsie (Lawlowski) Kalbas.
A visit to the Kalbas ` was a wonderful experience, Bob told everyone stories about his life, remembering both the good and bad times.
