Kalibak is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter; this combined with his savagery makes him a deadly opponent.
Kalibak is the son of Darkseid, the ruler of the planet Apokolips, and the sorceress Suli, whom Darkseid secretly married against the wishes of his mother, Queen Heggra.
As an adult, Kalibak became known as “Kalibak the Cruel” and the “Scourge of Apokolips” for his savagery in battle and the horrors of his “Torment Chambers”.

With the imprisonment of Darkseid on the Source Wall, Kalibak was convinced he was the new lord and master of Apokolips, ready to destroy anyone who stood in his way (like Darkseid did many years before, but without the scheming and back-stabbing, just with brute force).
When his father was destroyed in prophisized battle against Orion, Kalibak was used by Desaad as a device of revenge against; in exchange he was given a belt with greatly enhanced his powers.

Yes, Kalibak does have his Beta Club (with a powerful ranged attack within), which puts him one step up over Ulik who had no ranged attacks, though against this foe (TK shields, mental bolts, vast TK abilities, mental lock as to find opponents and read their minds near anywhere) I dont think itll be enough.
There is one slight difference between Ulik and Kalibak - besides the Beta Club (and TK is not going to be the best protection against the neural beam) - and that's that Kalibak has shown some resilience against mental attacks as a combo of his Apokoliptian heritage and bestial nature.

The telepathy would be hard to overcome, but Joshua has beaten SU telepaths before and I think he'd probably be a little stronger and faster, so he would win most of the time.
