	Kaloyan
		The third ruler of the new dynasty - Asen's - was Tzar Kaloyan (1196-1207).
		The Latin Emperor Baldwin was taken prisoner and in spite of Rome's threats to initiate a crusade against Kaloyan, Baldwin remained in Turnovo until his death (there is some evidence that he was executed on account of the intrigues of the Bulgarian tzaritza whose love for him had not been reciprocated).
		Kaloyan died in 1207 during the siege of Thessaloniki - killed while sleeping by a plotter - Manastre, leader of the Koumanian mercenaries in his army.
