The kamal was used primarily by the Chinese and Arabs in the 18th and 19th century.
The kamal consists of a rectangular wooden card about 2 inches by 1 inch, to which a string with several equally spaced knots is attached through a hole in the middle of the card.
The kamal is used by placing one end of the string in the teeth while the other end is held away from the body roughly parallel to the ground.

Ganzouri, a 62-year-old economist, was deputy prime minister prior to Sedki's resignation.
Ganzouri's appointment was viewed as a response by the Egyptian government to its staggering economic problems.

AMMAN — Jordan and Egypt signed several agreements over the weekend to bolster political and economic ties during a visit of Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri.
During a joint press conference with Tarawneh, Ganzouri said his country is prepared to supply the Kingdom with Egyptian natural gas, adding that more talks will be held between the two countries on this subject.

The ban on Cairo Times came just weeks after Prime Minister Kamal Ganzouri reversed a GAFI decree issued in late March which had ordered the suspension of all printing services for magazines and newspapers publishing in the free investment zone.
The magazine estimated that it had lost US$30,000-$50,000 since March as a result of government censorship because of lost sales and advertising revenue on the banned issues, and the increased costs of having to print in Cyprus after the GAFI decree went into effect.
