There are a few tell-tale remnants; uchiwa fans with beer ads on them moldering in the bushes, a few red and yellow lanterns still strung up near the beginning of the night district.
Otherwise, Tokushima has recovered from the surge of humanity, and once again become the lazy backwater of a city that I know and love.
The crew had set up a little stretch of street to look as though the Awa Odori was still going on, so it was nice to walk downtown and hear the familiar sounds of the awa music.

July 19, everyone left Tokyo and set off for their new homes (or, at least for the 2 hour wait at the airports before the flights to their new homes).
About 5 minutes before landing in Tokushima I finally got nervous.
They were hard to miss, with a huge sign and twice as many people as any other group (sigh).

Okay...Last friday I took part in Tokushima’s awa-o-Dori festival.
After Tokushima we moved on to Kamiita English Camp.
It was held at one of the 88 temples of the famous shikoku pilgrimage.

Last night all of the JETs met up in Tokushima (a city about 30 minutes from Naruto by train).
Thus far the only thing that has made me uncomfortable are the other JETs.
Tomorrow I am going to Tokushima for a kind of JET get together at a beer garden.

 88 Temple Pilgrimage
Good physical fitness and stamina is required to endure the stress of constant walking up and down the hills of Shikoku, in the burning sun and the pouring rain.
It is traditional to prepare by visiting Mount Koya, but the route itself starts at Ryōzenji, near Tokushima, and you also have to return here in order to complete your pilgrimage.
