		Saitama Prefecture is bordered by Tokyo, Chiba, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Nagano, and Yamanashi.
		Saitama City is the host city for the finals of the 2006 FIBA World Championship running until September 3, 2006.
		Saitama has been compared to New Jersey in the U.S., in that it is heavily industrialized, largely built-up, and unfashionable.

		We were a little short of time, so I decided to cycle to the tunnel by myself and meet with Ewa and Pierre near the tunnel.
		Our friend Pierre agreed to take us through the tunnel to the other side (the Karisaka tunnel between Saitama and Yamanashi prefectures is over 6 km long and it is over 2000m above the sea level.
		It was the guy that I saw earlier walking on the Saitama side of the tunnel.

	Shinji Ono is AFC player of 2002
		Ono becomes the third Japanese player after Masami Ihara (1995) and Hidetoshi Nakata (1997 and 1998) to scoop the most prestigious award in Asian football since the awards were inaugurated in 1994.
		I.R. Iran was the runaway winner in the AFC Futsal Team of the Year category, having won their fourth consecutive AFC Futsal Championship since the event began in 1999.
		In the AFC Referee and Assistant Referee of the Year category, Japan's Toru Kamikawa and Ali Al Traifi of Saudi Arabia emerged winners in their respective categories.

		From Shikoku island where we lived for 2 years, we moved to the main island to Osaka city and a year later, in November 2002 we moved to Saitama prefecture, north of Tokyo to a small town - Kamikawa located at the foot of the mountains.
		Since we moved to Saitama in November '02 we did a few bike trips in that part of Japan.
		We reached the foot of the mountain on the day when a major typhoon was passing through the area and spent the night in a tent in the middle of the storm.

		Katayama has been diagnosed as having gender identity disorder, a condition in which the person strongly identifies with the other sex and believes that they are "trapped in the wrong body." It is differentiated from transvestism, in which a person cross-dresses for sexual pleasure.
		At Saitama, three applications for a sex change are now under review, and this month the committee received a 13th application, said ethics committee chairman Toshio Yamauchi, who is vice-president of the Department of Neuropsychiatry at Saitama Medical School.
		The Saitama Medical School ethics committee and the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology last June jointly demanded the Justice Ministry revise the family registry law to allow gender revisions.

	Iran named AFC "Futsal Team of the Year 2002"
		In a statement faxed to IRNA on Wednesday, AFC said Iran were runaway winners in the AFC Futsal Team of the Year category, having won their fourth consecutive AFC Futsal Championship since the event began in 1999.
		It said the trophy presentation will be held on June 4 in Saitama, Japan.
		Pakhtakor were the AFC Club "Team of the Year" after winning the league and Cup double in Uzbekistan, and battling through six qualifying matches in the 2002 preliminary round of the inaugural AFC Champions League (and eventually reaching the semi-finals).
