Kamov Ka-50 attack helicopters operate in conjunction with Mi-24 "Krokodil" assault helicopters and a new version of the Ka-30 naval anti-ship helicopter equipped with an advanced air-to-surface radar system "Oka." The Ka-50 helicopters are armed primarily with up to 80 S-8 80-mm unguided rockets and 12 "Vikhr-M" (AT-12) laser-guided air-to-surface anti-tank missiles (ATGMs).
A small force of coaxial Kamov Ka-50 attack helicopters were reported to be based at Grozny’s "Northern" airport when they were deployed to the province.

In 1997, Israeli Air Industries (IAI) in cooperation with the Kamov bureau entered a Turkish design competition for a $4 billion contract for 145 (later changed to 50) combat helicopters.
The helicopter that resulted was the Ka-50-2 Erdogan ("Born to be a Man"), a tandem cockpit twin-seater variant of the Ka-50 that featured modern "glass cockpit" avionics and a turret-mounted folding 30mm cannon as opposed to the fixed cannon of the Ka-50.
It was designed by the Kamov company starting in the 1980s and adopted for service in the Russian army in 1995.

The problem with autorotation for co-axial was solved around 50 years ago and Kamov had its own solution since Ka-25 was out.
Kamov helicopters do land with autorotation, though it is less controlable than single blade helicopter on low speed autorotation, however it has singificant advantage in slower decending with engine off than a single blade helo.
Here Kamov's 30mm gun would have slightlty less initial velocity and fire rate to compete in direct head to head competition.
