		KANCHEEPURAM: With the high profile Sankararaman murder case likely to be committed to the district sessions court at Chinglepet within 10 days, lawyers wonder how the government will handle its transfer to a fast track court (FTC) as the Supreme Court has extended the life of FTCs only till April end.
		With the interest generated by the Sankararaman murder case, Bar Association members in Kancheepuram are sure that the case after committal to the district sessions court in Chinglepet would be shifted to the FTC either at Poonamallee or Kancheepuram.
		The suspense follows from the fact that the Kancheepuram FTC is the ideal one both in location and jurisdiction to handle the high profile case.

		A Tamil Nadu police team, led by Kancheepuram SP Prem Kumar, arrived at the village on Sunday around 1130 IST and held discussions with Appu's family members.
		Appu, alias Krishnasamy, one of the main accused in the Sankararaman murder case, on Sunday surrendered before Tamil Nadu police personnel in Balakrishnapuram village in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.

		Pallavas held sway over this region from the beginning of the 3rd century A.D.to the closing years of the 9th century except for the interval of some decades when the region was under Kalabharas.
		Subsequent to Ilam Tiraiyan, the region seemed to have been ruled by the Chola Prince Ilam Killi.The Chola occupation of Tondaimandalam was put to an end by the Andhra Satavahana incursions from the north under their King Pulumayi II.

		NEW DELHI, Sept 7: The Supreme Court has settled a 30-year-old dispute by ruling that the Deputy Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Madras, can modify a scheme for the administration and trusteeship of the Devarajswamy Temple at Kancheepuram.
		The matter finally went to the Madras High Court and the scheme was settled on November 15, 1909.

		The position of the district administration in 1900's was that the Collector having his headquarters at Saidapettai was assisted by a Sub-Collector and two General Deputy Collecotrs, six Tahsildars for six Taluks and five Deputy Tahsildars for five sub taluks.
		The Sub-Collector and the General Deputy Collectors were the heads of the revenue divisions of Chengalpattu, comprising Chengalpattu, Madurantakam and Kancheepuram Taluks; Saidapettai comprising Saidapettai and Ponneri Taluks and Tiruvallur comprising the lone Taluk of Tiruvallur.
		Later in 1911 when Sriperumbudur sub-taluk was upgraded as a full fledged taluk, the fourth revenue division was formed with headquarters at Kancheepuram comprising Kancheepuram and Sriperumbudur Taluks.
