He became the founder of a mountain guide dynasty. The latter half of the twentieth century were boom years for Kandersteg bringing true stability and some prosperity to the locals for the first time.
Kandersteg has far more to offer than many ski centres and a much greater proportion of its clientele visits, year round, for the hiking, fishing, flora and fauna or just the stunning scenery than is the ski resort norm.
