While transiting through Kangerlussuaq, we were put up in a sort of dormatory (the KISS building, if you read the sign on the red building) by the logistics company Veco Polar Resources.
Back when Kangerlussuaq was primarily an Air Force base (today, it still revolves almost exclusively around the airport, which is no longer a USAF entity), there were radar stations set on the hills outside of town.
Between Kangerlussuaq and the start of the ice sheet, this is pretty much the view one sees: a rocky and sculpted landscape, dotted with many lakes originally carved by the glacier itself and now renewed by annual snowfall.

Kangerlussuaq is largely a town built of an old US military base and a large Danish-style airport.
My rough plan was to fly from Kangerlussuaq to Illulissat, take the ferry from Illulissat to Maniitsoq, and then fly from Maniitsoq to Kangerlussuaq and then back to East Greenland.
This would not be a problem if I didn't have a connecting flight from Kangerlussuaq to Kulusuk that only goes once a week.
