Whereas the Kanto region is symbolic of standardization throughout Japan (from the government to economics to the language), the Kansai region displays many more idiosyncrasies through the culture in Kyoto, the mercantilism of Osaka, the history of Nara, the internationality of Kobe, and the distinct dialect (Kansai-ben) heard through the seven prefectures.
The Kansai region is often compared (yet more often contrasted) with the Kantō region, which lies to the east and is comprised primarily of Tokyo and the surrounding area.
The dialects of the people of the Kansai region have their own variations of pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar which are unique to the region.

^_^ Okay, Osaka-ben is a form of Kansai-ben (Kansai being the region west of Tokyo that includes cities like Osaka and Kyoto).
No one speaks Osaka-ben in Inuyasha (except for the two kappa at the beginning of 3.1), but that doesn't mean we can't study it anyway.
Or do you mean that there are words/phrases that came into existence after the introduction of other languages/cultures into Japan?

Kansai ben is so freaking hard for me to get the right accent with since both english and french are languages that fluctuate up and down alot while kansai ben is mostly neutral, and then dip at the end...
The ko-gals spent most of the 2 hour art lesson working on my kansai ben accent, and teaching me some new kansai ben words which in part led to thursday escapade.
Was forced to say the kansai ben thing to Moriyama sensei (that's explained further on), and didn't really get much of a reaction (that's probably because i couldn't ruffian it up enough.

I think that you might be right....ending with "jya" isn't quite Kansai, but I have noticed that most of West Japan has elements of Kansai-ben in it (whether it originated in Kansai or not, I don't know).
I noticed that people in Nagoya are interesting....the women tend to speak the Tokyo-ben, where the men tend to speak something closer to Kansai-ben...
I, too, speak Kansai-ben (especially after a beer or three) which is fine in Kansai, but can sometimes turn a few heads in Tokyo.
