  Audiohead.net - Products - Korg Kaoss Pad
Kaoss Pad is a completely different kind of effects processor.
Instead of simply turning knobs or sliding moveable faders, you stroke or touch the surface of its glass pad and the axis point of your tactal contact deploys a corresponding effect and parameter—in realtime.
In fact, anytime you glide across or tap on the pad, you can make evocative changes to your mix and produce a level of complexity that might be tough to achieve with any other controller.

Leet hax0r stuffs a Kaoss Pad into his Les Paul - Engadget
The Kaoss Pad generates all sorts of space age effects that can be naturally controlled through the touch-sensitive pad, and works fine right out of the box, but guitar hackin' Phil wasn't appeased.
He found the effort to reach away from his guitar and fiddle with the Kaoss to be too immense, so instead he drilled a hole into his Epiphone Les Paul and mounted the touch pad right next to the bridge for ultimate access.
The pad connects to the processing part of the Kaoss via a serial connection, but Phil did mount the box's "hold" button on the guitar for locking in effects.

 Korg Kaoss Pad 3
Kaoss Pads are both tactile and intuitive; consequently the slender manual avoids wordy descriptions of the included effects algorithms, offering only the information needed to get you up and running.
Simply hitting the pad again stops looping and the pad glows green to indicate a loop is present.
There are a couple of nifty equalisers where the pad matrix is used to set the EQ levels, while four 'crossfade' effects offer blending of your samples in combination with filtering or sample-length adjustment.

Korg Mini Kaoss Pad Reviews. Audio Components Reviews by CNET.
The Korg Mini Kaoss Pad is a music remix tool designed with musicians in mind, but it can be used by anyone looking for a fun, hands-on way to manipulate and add effects to audio.
Unlike its big brother, the Kaoss Pad 3, the Mini Kaoss Pad is stripped down to its bare essentials--100 preset audio effects, RCA line in/out, a headphone jack, and the touch pad.
The Mini Kaoss Pad is pretty expensive for an audio novelty, but for those who have longed to apply real-time reverse turntable spins to audio from a television, video game system, or party mix, the price may be well worth it.

Korg Kaoss Pad 3 - Remix reviews the Korg Kaoss Pad 3 interactive sampler and effects processor.
Since the introduction in 1999 of the original Kaoss Pad, Korg's unique idea has continually made a huge impact on the DJ scene and has become a favorite for tech-hip musicians and producers as a powerful tool for rich, on-the-fly sound manipulation.
With the new Kaoss Pad 3 (KP3), Korg has repeated that same feat with powerful new effects, expanded control options and heavily enhanced visual interactivity, which combine to make the KP3 a force to be reckoned with — especially in the realms of electronic styles.
The original Kaoss Pad was indeed intended as a DJ instrument, and its focus in that direction has definitely been increased despite Korg's decision to remove the phono inputs.

Since the X-Y pad lets you control separate parameters in the horizontal and vertical directions, you can do things like simultaneously controlling the delay time and the feedback of a delay line, or simultaneously modifying the cutoff and resonance of a filter --- complex operations that would be cumbersome with sliders or knobs.
The X-Y pad can also be scraped or tapped (struck lightly) to control the effect sound, letting you produce switch-type effects that are impossible with knobs or sliders, and making it possible to control the effects in time with a rhythm or phrase --- just as if you were playing a musical instrument.
The KAOSS PAD is a powerful addition to any vocal or MC setup, or when laying tracks.

right ive got a perfomance coming up and im trying to link up my kaoss pad 2 to max to control some sound effects that my guitar will go tho, i havent a clue how to even start.
I thought that it had a MIDI output, if so you'll need to decifer what the MIDI signal does when your using the controls on the Kaoss pad, which should be easy seeing as Max allows you to print any info that it receives.
I assume that you want the Kaoss pad to control Max which is processing the signal from the Guitar and then outputting that to your soundcard?
