The Silver Apples - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
They were going to release a third record in 1970, but their record company folded, leaving them stranded.
Very quickly, the first two records were re-released as official records from the tapes, and Simeon began a tour of the USA with a new four piece Silver Apples band.
Taylor had the tape of the third record, The Garden, in a box in his attic, and the record was finally released 28 years late, in 1998.

 8/16/01: Vinyl Mail Bag
The executives at Kapp Records were only too happy to go along with the scheme as it relieved them of the production costs.
(The soon to be defunct Kapp Records was one of several labels under the MCA umbrella at the time.) I discussed the matter with the president of Monarch Records, who pressed all MCA record requirements for the West Coast at that time.
This left unsightly corners on the finished record, therefore a more careful method of roughing only those edges that would not form the corners of the finished record had to be devised.

Uni Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Uni Records was a subsidiary of MCA Records.
It was first active in the 1960s and early 1970's, but the logo was retired (along with two other MCA subsidiarys, Kapp Records and Decca Records) in 1972, with all Uni and Kapp artists, back catalog and new releases being moved directly to the MCA label.
In 1988, Uni was revived by MCA/Universal Music as a niche label, with Eric B. and Rakim, Swans, and Steve Earle the initial artists on the roster.

 Definition of Jane Morgan
Dave Kapp wanted to record an instrumental version of the song done by a group named "The Troubadors." Jane was invited to attend the session, and, not knowing what they were going to play, was surprised to hear Fascination, which she knew from her days in Europe, where the song was considered a standard.
She found out from Kapp that there were some new English lyrics, which Kapp suggested she record with the Troubadours.
The record was released with Jane's vocal on one side and a purely instrumental version on the other, and though many other recording companies released their own versions of the song, Jane's became the big hit version.

Hub Kapp and the Wheels feature from Scram #13   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-16)
Hub Kapp and the Wheels was the notorious joke rock and roll band that was born on a hip Phoenix, Arizona, kids' television show, took Hollywood by storm at the height of Beatlemania and has continued to confound music scholars and record collectors to this day.
Hub Kapp's alien stage presence proved a perverse attraction to the Hollywood starmakers and it wasn't long before he and the Wheels were holding court at the Whisky a Go Go on the Sunset Strip and making national TV appearances on the Steve Allen and Joey Bishop programs.
A recording session at the Capitol Tower produced a sophomore 45, but the results were somewhat disappointing both to the band and record buyers.

 Carmen McRae - Verve Records
It was while working in Brooklyn that she happened to come to the attention of a tiny independent record label, and thankfully the records she made for that concern happened to fall on the ears of Decca’s Milt Gabler, one of the great talent scouts in the history of jazz.
Her five-year association with Decca (and its brother label, Kapp Records) served both to make her a bona fide singing star and to yield what would ultimately prove to be the most consistently excellent series of recordings of her entire forty-year career.
This isn’t to imply that the remaining thirty years of her recording career were anything less than wonderful.

Its theme of temporary parting was empathetic to the plight of many love struck teenagers and the song returned to the UK Top 10 in 1975 before being revived in 1990 by Jason Donovan.
This third million-seller was produced by long-time friend Del Shannon, who co-wrote several tracks on the attendant album, but this rekindled success proved short-lived and the artist later ceased recording.

One of the men chiefly responsible for Nashville’s emergence as country music’s recording capital was Chicago-born Paul E. Cohen, long-time Decca Records executive.
Cohen first entered the record business with Columbia in the late 1920s, but in 1934 joined Decca’s newly formed American operation, organized by two brothers, Jack and Dave Kapp—old Chicago friends of his.
Soon Cohen launched his own company, Todd Records, and besides signing such country acts as Pee Wee King and Dub Dickerson, the label enjoyed a pop hit, Joe Henderson's “Snap Your Fingers.” In 1964 Cohen rejoined his old boss Dave Kapp as head of Kapp Records’ country division in Nashville.
