KARACHI: Sindh Health Department mentioned in their daily report on Friday that 78 new cases of Viral Hemorrhagic Fever were brought to 13 different hospitals of the metropolis.
KARACHI: Local health experts find a reason to worry as they feel that another virus with symptoms similar to those of dengue fever have caused the fever outbreak after realising that more than 60 percent of the suspected Dengue fever cases failed to prove positive.
Karachi is in the midst of the second outbreaks of dengue in two years.

KARACHI: The University of Karachi (KU) has terminated the services of its employee, Mansoor Niaz, a computer lab technician, who had tried to violate the modesty of a LLB examinee in the university a couple of months ago.
The decision to this effect was taken on Friday in the light of the recommendations of the Enquiry Committee by invoking the Clause 4(g) of the University of Karachi Efficiency Rules.
The students and some academics were of the view that the university was lenient towards these employees because they had the patronage of a segment of links with influential people.

KARACHI: The Senate of the Federal Urdu University (FUU), Karachi in its meeting on Thursday has decided to appoint a high-profile committee comprising former Vice Chancellor (VC), Dr Ittefaq Ali, ex-registrar, Dr Aslam Farukhi, University of Karachi and Justice (retd) Ghous Mohammad to supervise the affairs of the university.
The VC said that the examinations for the external candidates were discontinued in the university due to the shortage of staff and the tendency of cheating among the students.
KARACHI: The university has extended the date for the submission of enrolment forms for MA students up to March 10 with a late fee of Rs500.

FAPUASA General-Secretary for Sindh Badar Soomro said 300 university teachers of BPS 19 and 20 were waiting for their promotion to the next grade.
He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had announced that all university teachers would be promoted in the next grade on Oct 5, 2006 but the HEC had imposed the condition of PhD for the upgradation of professors and associate professors.
He told the newsmen that in other provinces vice chancellors were authorised to issue NOCs to their university teachers in case of their foreign visits.

KARACHI, Oct 17: The provincial government on Wednesday announced that all educational institutions in the city will be closed on Thursday (today) to save children from facing “expected difficulties” owing to anticipated traffic jams.
The registrar of the University of Karachi also notified on Wednesday that its campus and affiliated colleges would remain closed on Thursday.
Callers from various parts of the city contacted the newspaper and expressed their concern over the holding of examinations of the Cambridge system in the city on Thursday when Karachi is expected to be flooded with rallies and processions.
