From 1275 Karaman was the capital of the emirate (and later Ottoman province) of Karamanid.
In 1468 Karamanid was conquered by the Ottomans and in 1483 the capital of the province was moved to Konya.

The only possible threat there was by venice now, was a few men, standing around in a remote Karaman province in western africa, unable to do anything harmful because they weren't enough to start a siege.

The charred bodies of three men were recovered on Sunday just hours after the blast in the mine in the southern province of Karaman, which is believed to have been caused by a build-up of gas.
