Beyond Karangahape Road the southernmost 500 metres of the street is officially known as Upper Queen Street.
Upper Queen Street crosses the largest interchange on the New Zealand State Highway network, known as "Spaghetti Junction" (after its British equivalent near Birmingham) which is the junction of State Highways 1 and 16, before terminating at Newton Road.
The street was immortalised in song by The Front Lawn with their song (It started on) Queen Street.

The graves are situated at the edge of the very old Nelson Cemetery, on the Wakapuwaka Road, at the edge of the Nelson Municipal Cemetery.
Situated on the the left side of the road at the edge of the town cemetery, on the way to the skyride.
On the Main South Road, just slightly uphill from the main entrance, tall wrought iron gates form the entrance to the Jewish Portion of the cemetery and the visitor would find it convenient to park on the Main South Road and use this foot access.

 Scoop: City Cameras Upgraded To Keep Streets Safe
Auckland City, Heart of the City, Karangahape Road Business Association and the New Zealand police have joined forces to upgrade the closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the central city and install up to 14 additional cameras in the Karangahape Road area.
Karangahape Road, Myers Park and the surrounding streets are identified as one of the areas requiring extra police resources.
Tony Koia, chair of the Karangahape Road Business Association, is delighted with the council’s decision to install additional cameras in the Karangahape Road area.

This ran for a month, and the opening was well attended.
Spring 2001 Fifth Annual Auckland PRIDE Centre Spring Exhibition of Art at KAMO Cafe & Bar was well attended, better than last year, and we also had the Follow the Yellow Brick Road Photographic Exhibition which ran for a month, the opening of which we had a full-to-capacity crowd in the Centre.

Workers from stores across Auckland walked off the job on Nov. 23 to join the world’s first Starbucks strike, held on Auckland’s counter-culture café strip, Karangahape Road, New Zealand.
What began as a small protest by workers from one store became a citywide strike when Starbucks workers heard that managers would be brought in to cover the shifts of the protesting workers at the Karangahape store.
Daniel Gross, co-founder of the Starbucks’ Workers Union in New York City, said the strike was an important step toward changing working conditions for those in the fast-food sector all over the world.
