		Residents are fiercely opposed to the controversial 15-year electricity supply contract the Karasburg Town Council signed with SELCo.
		"The Karas Regional Council is genuinely concerned about the problems experienced by the community of Karasburg and the adverse impact it may have on the regional economic incentives planned for the Karas region," Karas Chief Regional Officer Salmaan Jacobs wrote to the Community-based Committee on Friday.
		Approached for comment, Karasburg Mayor, Frieda Moller, maintained that the Council had never refused to meet members of the community.

		KARASBURG hospital personnel are battling to render effective services because of a severe staff shortage, says the Principal Medical Officer, Dr Andries Vermeulen.
