  Karategi - Wikipedija, prosta enciklopedija

A karategi is somewhat similar to a judogi (柔道着 or 柔道衣, Judo uniform) as it shares a common origin, however the material and cut of the uniform is generally much lighter and looser fitting.
Indeed cheaper karategi are often cut from a light fabric similar to a summer shirt.
Most quality karategi are cut from a light canvas style cloth which will stand up to a considerable amount of abuse without restricting the mobility of the karateka.

The uniform worn by karateka (someone who practices karate) is called a karategi and the belt worn around the waist is referred to as an obi.
For us to better understand the origins and the significance of the karategi and obi, we must first travel back to the time when karate began to be taught in both Japanese and Okinawan societies.
The karategi is a combination of the hakama and the judogi.

 Karategi - Definition, explanation
Karategi (空手着 or 空手衣) is the Japan name for the Karate training dress.
The Karategi looks similar to the Judogi (柔道着 or 柔道衣;, Judo uniform) because it developed from the Judogi.
However its texture is completely different as the Judo uniform has very thick cloth (like a bathrobe), whereas the karate uniform has coarse, hard and thin cloth.
