		Karben, who is the youngest state lawmaker in New York State, represents a large portion of Rockland County (the town of Orangetown and parts of the town of Ramapo).
		Karben was involved in as a Planning Board member were: the enactment of a local law to regulate the operation of adult bookstores, support for an Association for Retarded Citizens proposal for a Children’s Respite House and opposition to zone change requests that would change the character of Ramapo’s neighborhoods.

		Rockland County Legislator, Ryan S. Karben, 23, was elected to represent the Town of Ramapo (population 100,000) in the Rockland County Legislature in November 1997, receiving 61% of the vote in a hotly contested race.
		Karben is the youngest person to ever serve in the Legislature and is the youngest county lawmaker in New York State.

		A report on public health near the former Ford Motor Co. plant in Mahwah, N.J., has prompted Assemblyman Ryan Scott Karben to call for a similar assessment of the community near another Ford plant in Rockland County.
