Karditsa city is the capital of Karditsa Prefecture.
Karditsa is south-west of Palamas and Larissa, west of Farsala and the Volos area, north-west of Athens, Lamia, Domokos and Sofades, north of Karpenisi, north-east of Arta, and east-south-east of Trikala, Grevena, Ioannina, and Kalampaka.
Karditsa is one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Greece with an extensive network of bicycle paths.

Karditsa is one of the prefectures of Greece.
Karditsa is about 300 kilometers from Athens and can be reached by bus or train from Athens and Thessaloniki.
Karditsa is bounded by the prefectures of Trikala to the north, Larissa to the east, Phthiotis to the southeast, Aetolia-Acarnania and Evrytania to the southwest and Arta to the west.

Karditsa, the capital of the prefecture, is built near a tributary of the Pineios, in the heart of the rich Thessalian plain.
Located 18 km southwest of Karditsa, 1,150 m asl, is the historic Korona Monastery, a religious and cultural center during the Ottoman period.
One of the most important sights in the prefecture is the man-made lake of the river Tavropos or Megdova, known as Lake Nikolaos Plastiras, in honour of the distinguished general and politician from Karditsa who in 1925 conceived the idea of building a dam.

The Club of Photograph of k ' Cinema Karditsa was found in March 1978 and since then it has effectively contributed to the arts' events of the city by participating in a number of activities, working closely with artists, services, unios, foundations, magazines, book publishers, newspapers, television networks, etc.
In 1988, in the context of the programme "the city to children" and in close cooperation with the municipality of Karditsa, members of the LEFKK undertook to inspire children to join the technique of photography.
There's also been a publishing of a calendar with work famous Greek and foreigner photographers (1996), as well as a book on the history of photography in Karditsa and a registry of photographers from Karditsa, framed with their work from 1984 until today (Ilias Paganos).
