Karekin II, then on a pastoral visit to the USA, declined to comment on the archbishop's outburst but announced that the rebel priest had been expelled from the Armenian Apostolic Church.
He said that Karekin II could not be considered the legitimate Catholicos and that it was unacceptable for "two brothers to serve together in one monastery."

As is known, the old Monophysite heretics from Armenia, Ethiopia, Egypt and Syria call themselves "Orthodox," creating a considerable confusion with the other "Orthodox" denominations that come from the Schism of Constantinople in the 11th century.
The Armenian patriarch Karekin II is, therefore, a full and complete heretic, and the "mass" of his false religion is an offense to God.
