Karijoki Cheer Teamista tuli helmikuussa vihdoinkin SCL:n jäsen. Asiaa pohdittiin melkein vuoden ajan ja päädyttiin liittymiseen.

 Wolf Cave
The multidisciplinary research project at the Wolf Cave cavern on Vargberget (“Wolf Mountain”) in Kristinestad near the border of Karijoki was initiated in 1997.
The investigations at the cavern are being carried out by the National Board of Antiquities, in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Finland and the Helsinki University Department of Geology.
The cavern is owned by the municipality of Karijoki, that was going to empty out the cavern and open it as a tourist attraction.

There were 6 communes (Karvia, Karijoki, Kauhajoki, Jalasjärvi, Alavus, and Lapua) from which the number of Canada-bound emigrants was at least 30.
All these communes, excluding Helsinki, are located in the southern parts of Vaasa Province or in the northern parts of Turku and Pori Province, and it seems that a special area of emigration from Finland to Canada can be delineated.
The core area of this emigration comprised the communes of Karijoki, Isojoki, Kauhajoki, Karvia, Jalasjärvi, Peraseinäjoki, Alavus, Ähtäri and Saarijärvi.

There is distinct signpost by the side of highway 663 (between Kristiinankaupunki and Karijoki) pointing to Susiluola cave.

There are about 5 km illuminated skiing tracks and different track alternatives, in total about 40 km.
The longer tracks to the village of Dagsmark and Karijoki are very popular.
For the smallest ones there is a track of 1 km.

The oldest evidence of human activity in Finland is from the Susiluola cave site dating back over 100,000 years to before the last Ice Age.
The cave is situated at the border of Kristiinankaupunki and Karijoki in Southern Ostrobothnia in Western Finland.
The area of Finland was resettled after the Ice Age, and around 9,000 years ago there were dwelling sites of the so-called Suomusjärvi Culture in the southern and northern parts of the country.

PENTTI LUND was the first Finnish born player to win an NHL trophy.
Although born in Karijoki, not far from Helsinki, the LUND family moved to Port Arthur, Ontario (now Thunder Bay) when PENTTI was just six years old.
