 | | The Malayalam calendar’s 1st month ‘Chingam’ itself burst with joy as it brings in brighten morning sunshine, after the dark, cloudy and dangerous rain that precede the month called ‘Karkidakam’ when most of the households from fisher folks, peasants, farming community and the working class/daily wage earners, reel under severe poverty and utter helplessness. |
 | | Fishing folks of the cost lines are the worst affected, as government impose a ban on trawling and the seas too remain violent. |
 | | Of course, while the people suffer in ‘Karkidakam’, due to the nature’s fury, paddy and other plantations get rejuvenated and strengthened to produce its fruits that are mostly harvested in ‘Chingam’. |
