Karl Marx - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Karl Marx was born into a progressive and wealthy Jewish family in Trier, Prussia.
Karl Marx's engagement to Jenny von Westphalen, an aristocrat, was kept secret at first, and for several years was opposed by both the Marxes and Westphalens.
Karl Popper has criticized Marx's theories as he believed they were not falsifiable, which he argued would render some particular aspects of Marx’s historical and socio-political arguments unscientific, although Popper's falsifiability standard has been largely rejected.

Ellis C Taylor.com,  And Deliver Them From Evil part 1
One of the early influences on this frighteningly deceptive bookish and shy man was Austrian born Karl Maria Willigut.
Willigut’s chief claim to fame was his ‘racial memory’ that could allegedly trace the origins of the Teutonic peoples to 228,000 BC.
Willigut also alleged that in prehistoric times, three suns provided the earth with light and the planet was inhabited by a host of mythological creatures that were eventually subdued by his ancestors.

Black Sun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Occasionally, and unscientifically, fl dwarfs are referred to as fl suns.
This is not entirely unrelated to the esoteric meaning, since ariosophy alleges a burnt out sun that was the source of power of the Aryans in some mystical past (see also Karl Maria Willigut).
Uses of the term in science-fiction and fantasy literature are influenced by a combination of the esoteric and the astronomical meaning, see Black Sun (disambiguation) for examples of the term as used in popular culture.

The Great Chair of Heinrich Himmler   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
One picture shows an assemblage of the Reichsführer with his daughter Gudron and General Karl Wolf, and here we have a rare appearance of none other than Karl Maria Willigut, who, at that time, was known as Karl Maria Weisthor, and this was the name he used when he joined the SS.
It was a kind of special designation because of Himmler’s admiration of the old academic and because he had previously held the colonel’s rank in the Imperial Austrian Army and had distinguished himself in the heat of battle.
The ring or the letter ‘O’ that actually was personified by the Odel rune was the symbol of the beginning of life: the fraternity symbol and female regeneration.

FT Reviews: The Secret King: Karl Maria Wiligut - Himmler's Lord of the Runes
There has been much speculation to the extent to which various important figures in the Nazi hierarchy were directly influenced by the occult and magickal ideas that developed in the latter half of the nineteenth century in Central Europe.
On the other hand the book under review should only be of interest to really determined seekers after the minutiae of the writings of figures such as Karl Maria Wiligut.
The book is comprised of a selection of items including an introductory biographical essay by the translator, Stephen E. Flowers which reprises what is known of the life of Wiligut and the people he associated with, including the circles around characters such as Guido von List and Jorg Lanz von Lebenfelds in pre-WWI Vienna.

Wiligut had obviously created an intricate belief system, largely of his personal creation, that draws upon varied mythologial and occult doctrine as source material, but it is difficult to determine what he actually "knew", and what he made up to give color or internal consistency to his largely fanciful doctrines.
It also begs the question of what exactly Wiligut said to Himmler to convince Himmler to hire Willigut onto his personal staff, at the rank of Colonel, and to place him in charge of his own branch of ancient and pre-historical racial research.
Wiligut is certainly an interesting figure, and I would like to see more of his material, either in accounts from those who knew him, or in his own writings (if more extensive writings or archival material exist), in order to get a better idea of exactly what he believed and why.

Germanic Neopaganism - WiccanWeb.ca   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
The connections of this movement to historical Germanic Paganism are tenuous at best, with its emphasis lying on the esoteric as taught by the likes of Julius Evola, Guido von List or Karl Maria Willigut.
Some Neopagan organizations in Germany in particular have a relationship to Ariosophy, Occultism and Neo-Nazi ideology, such as the Armanen-Orden in the tradition of Karl Maria Willigut.
Other organizations, like the re-founded Germanische Glaubens-Gemeinschaft or Odinic Rite are not clear in their associations, while the Rabenclan has a reputation of anti-Nazi criticism in German Neopaganism.

Please note that, according to Renato del Ponte, the translation into Italian that can be found in 'Julius Evola nei rapporti delle S.S.' noticeably varies from his, as we present it here ; we have not been able to check the other so far.
Needless to say 'Weisthor' was the alias under which, in September 1933, Karl Maria Wiligut, a former officer of the Austro-Hungarian army, placed himself in the service of the S.S., in which he was considered as an expert in Germanic prehistory.
Since Willigut was not dishonest, it can only be assumed that he just lacked information on Evola's work.

This is apparent after hearing this climactic album, composed of stunning esoteric soundscapes, recorded in the years 1992-1994 and based on the “Gotos=Kalanda” which is a spiritual calendar of twelve Heathen poems about each respective month of the lunar cycle; written by the esteemed Austrian poet and runesmith, Karl Maria Willigut (1866-1946).
Blending Willigut’s Gnosticism with profound Germanic spirituality, this futuristic while ancient composition shall leave you breathless and gasping for air, like someone who has just climbed the highest summits of the Alps.
Tumultuous Industrial music combined with Kadmon’s acoustic and keyboard experimentation and complimented by his rhythmic viva voce of the prose of the laureate Willigut makes this album one that should leave you ruminating on the mysteries of Wewelsburg….

A number of studies have examined the relationship between Nazism and the German Christian churches (most notably Klaus Scholder's well-known The Churches and the Third Reich).
There are, of course, also studies of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Karl Barth and others that explore the relationship between the Reich and the church in terms of the Christian protest against Nazism.
For some information on the occult background of Nazism, see Trevor Ravenscroft's work The Spear of Destiny (Samuel Weiser; 1982; and Neville Spearman; 1973), as well as one in German: Karl Heyer's Wesen und Wollen des National-Socialismus; Perseus Verlag; Basel; 1991.

The author examines many eccentric German individualists, dreamers, and romantics and their role in occult societies.
The author also considers the influence of such individuals as Rudolf von Sebottendorf, Herbert Reichstein, and Karl Maria Wiligut on the SS (Himmler), and examines the role Ariosophical thinking might have played in the development of Adolf Hitler.
The book includes several appendices, one of which deals with some of the sensationalist and "crypto-historical" literature that has sprang up around the occult and Nazism, which attributes a great role to the occult in the rise to power of the Nazis.
