The Brandenburgs, the 2 triple concertos, and 2 of the 4 multi-harpsichord concertos are monophonic!!!.
I liked a lot the music Karl Ristenpart played and I had some opportunities to listen to him live when he came to Paris in the 60s and also in Saarbrucken where I spent one year.
The latest Ristenpart CD arrived today with recordings I never had before, except for the Viola-Guitar Concerto, which was on a scratchy old Nonesuch.

Karl Richter's Archiv box with the Munich Bach Orchestra (DG ARC- 2708013') was the first recording that I owned of this music.
The tempi are very fast, and though the players are good enough to get through the notes one can't help but miss the subtlety that was sacrificed to speed.
Karl Ristenpart's set on Nonesuch (73006) with the Chamber Orchestra of the Saar is well played in all departments and well recorded (with the minor cavil of some high-frequency harshness).

Ristenpart's recordings for Club Français du Disque appeared in the United States most frequently when they were licensed for domestic release by Nonesuch.
This CDR release does not identify the source of the recordings contained therein, but I know that at least the Vivaldi double concerto appeared on Nonesuch in the 1960s.
Ristenpart was young enough to catch wind of the "original instruments" movement, but in the 1960s it was more a curiosity than an expectation, unlike today.
