  Dalberg - LoveToKnow 1911
In the 14th century the original house of Dalberg became extinct in the male line, the fiefs passing to Johann Gerhard, chamberlain of the see of Worms, who married the heiress of his cousin, Anton of Dalberg, about 1330.
Karl Theodor Anton Maria Von Dalberg (1744-1817), archbishop-elector of Mainz, arch-chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, and afterwards primate of the Confederation of the Rhine and grand-duke of Frankfort.
As statesman Dalberg was distinguished by his "patriotic" attitude, whether in ecclesiastical matters, in which he leaned to the Febronian view of a German national church, or in his efforts to galvanize the atrophied machinery of the Empire into some sort of effective central government of Germany.

 CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Ratisbon
Wolfgang II von Hausen (1600-13) was a zealous patron of the Jesuits and promoter of Catholic reform, and joined the Catholic League in 1609.
Albert von Törring (1613-59), when the Count Palatine Wolfgang Wilhelm became a Catholic in 1614, brought back under his spiritual jurisdiction a portion of the Protestant parishes, especially in the Upper Palatinate; even the town of Eger with its territory was recovered in 1627 for the Catholic faith.
Although Dalberg, in his desire to save his precarious sovereignty, accepted Cardinal Fesch, Napoleon's uncle, as coadjutor, he was compelled to surrender the secular territory of the Diocese of Ratisbon to Bavaria in 1810, whereupon its secularization was finally accomplished.

 Reference.com/Encyclopedia/Friedrich Karl Joseph von Erthal
Friedrich Karl Joseph Reichsfreiherr von Erthal (1719-01-03 - 1802-07-25) was electoral prince and archbishop of the old Archbishopric of Mainz from 1774-07-18 to 1802-07-04, shortly before the end of the archbishopric in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss.
In 1787 he apparently receded from the schismatic position of the Punctuation of Ems and applied to Rome for a renewal of his quinquennial faculties and for the approbation of his new coadjutor, Karl Theodor von Dalberg.
The negotiations concerning the reimbursement of Erthal for the loss of his territory west of the Rhine were not yet completed when he died, and was succeeded by Karl Theodor Anton Maria von Dalberg.

Wetzlar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the summer of 1772, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was at the Reichskammergericht as a trainee.
In 1803 Wetzlar came under the rule of Karl Theodor Anton Maria von Dalberg, the Archchancellor of the Holy Roman Empire and a close ally of Napoleon Bonaparte ans thus lost its status as a free town.
After the Congress of Vienna, the area passed to Prussia in 1815, and in 1822 it became the seat of the newly formed district of Wetzlar, which later in an administrative sense was part of the Prussian Rhineland (although Wetzlar does not identify itself in any was as a "rhenish" town).

Friedrich Dalberg, a truly "fl" bass, has all of Hagen's notes but none of his authority or drama, and Karl Elmendorff's conducting is strictly routine, but the orchestral playing is quite good.
Like the "Golden" era that preceded it (led by Johann Strauss, Millöcker, and Von Suppé), the "Silver" era celebrated lush waltzes and plush excess, but spiced the brew by flirting with such newly-fashionable ingredients as jazz, dance-band rhythms, and Freudian psychology.
The main drawback here is that the repertoire is so syrupy, so heavily laden mit schlag, that we don't really get to experience the singer described so glowingly in the liner notes as an interpreter of Zerbinetta, Gilda, Rosina and the Queen of the Night.
