A study from the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden, found that 10 or more years of mobile phone use increase the risk of acoustic neuroma and that the risk increase was confined to the side of the head where the phone was usually held.
This is the first report from the Swedish part of the so called INTERPHONE study, an international collaboration coordinated by WHO's cancer research institute, IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer).

A 750-people study by Sweden's Karolinska Institute found the risk of acoustic neuroma rose by 3.9 times on the side of the head the phone is used.
Out of the 750 people who took part in the study, 150 had acoustic neuroma and of those one in 11 had used a mobile phone for at least a decade.

Professor Per Sodersten and his wife Dr Cecilia Bergh from the world-renowned Karolinska Institute (the body that awards the Nobel prizes for physiology and medicine) in Stockholm, Sweden, have developed a treatment that turns conventional care for anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders on its head.
Sodersten and Bergh theorise that eating disorders are not caused by a mental illness at all and the symptoms associated with anorexia and bulimia (such as obsessions with food, binge eating, excessive exercise) are simply consequences of starvation.
