The Karolinska University Hospital or Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset is a university hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, with two major sites in the municipalities of Huddinge and Solna.
The present day Karolinska University Hospital is the result of a 2004 merger between the former Huddinge University Hospital (Huddinge Universitetssjukhus) in Huddinge, south of Stockholm and the Karolinska Hospital (Karolinska Sjukhuset) in Solna, north of Stockholm.
The Karolinska University Hospital is closely affiliated with the Karolinska Institute (Karolinska institutet).

Even though the original idea was that we should create a virtual classroom in order to help only hospitalized children of school age, (the idea was that they should be taught by their ordinary teacher), we changed our minds shortly after the start of the project because of the general situation of hospitalized children.
Since hospitalized children can meet other children in the corridors of the hospital, the time of treatment at home can become (and in the most cases actually becomes) a more severe isolation than the isolation they are usually exposed to during chemotherapic treatments in hospital.

 High-dose ribavirin in combination with standard dose peginterferon for treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C
Improved treatment regimens for patients with chronic hepatitis C, genotype 1 and high viral load are needed.
For this purpose, we conducted an open label study on patients with chronic HCV, genotype 1 and high viral load, with one treatment arm of ribavirin dosed individually, in combination with a standard dose of peginterferon alfa-2a, for 48 weeks.
Ten previously untreated patients with chronic HCV, genotype 1 and a viral load of >800 000 International Units (IU)/mL, who were attending the outpatient clinic at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge, were enrolled in this open-label, prospective trial.
