A Project 30B Skoryy class destroyer in the Mediterranean on 28 August 1968.
This hulk appears to be one of the vast Skoryy class of destroyers.
The 'KARA' class ships are generally identified as cruisers, but in fact carried the same designation (BPK) as Soviet destroyers, and their ASW role is more typical of destroyers in western navies.

The Kashin class ship was designed to fulfill a variety of roles including anti-air and antisubmarine operations to defend task forces from submarines, low-flying aircraft, and cruise missiles.
The Kashin class was commissioned in 1962, and was the first class of warship to be equipped with gas turbines.
The Project 61 Kashin class destroyer Otvazhny suffered a fire and explosion in her aft SA-N-1 SAM magazine while in the Black Sea on 30 August 1974.

Five units of a variant on the Modified Kashin class design were built in USSR for export to India in the 1980s.
Construction began after an interval of nearly a decade following the conclusion of building this class for the Soviet navy, and significant delays were experienced in the delivery of this ships.

As of July 2005, confirmed recipients of the Barak system include two Type 15 Delhi Class destroyers, one (probably more) Type 16 Godavari Class frigate, three Type 16A Brahmaputra Class frigates, at least one Rajput (Kashin II) Class destroyer and the solitary aircraft carrier, INS Viraat.

One or more of the Rajput Class similarly have two of their aft MR-123-02s replaced by the STGR and their forward AK-630s replaced with the Barak, where the platform is elevated up to the height of the base of the STGR.
