		Recognizing the talent of McKenzie, whom he met in 1984 when McKenzie's family moved to the reserve, they formed a band that they called Kashtin, which in their native Innu language means tornado.
		Playing local bars and festivals, the duo became celebrities in Northern Quebec, but had not achieved recognition out of the area until a TV crew from a station in Montreal came north to film them at a festival for a documentary they were doing on the Montagnais natives.

		As a member of the Kashtin band he recorded three albums - Kashtin, Innu and Akua Tuta - filmed seven music videos and won four Felix Awards.
		He has worked on several projects with Kashtin and as a solo artist, including: Richard Séguin's Instinct album, the sound track of Arthur Lamothe's film Silencing the Guns, and Robbie Robertson's album, The Native Americans.
		He also co-wrote and performed the theme for the Kushapetshekan radio drama with Luc Boivin, and adapted the Nitanish song into French for Roch Voisine.
