Regarding this issue, the daily Rilindja Demokratike reports today that Kastriot Islami was not allowed on Tuesday to enter the SP headquarters.
While the daily Albania citing one of Islami's closest friends on this issue says that after the Prosecutor's office Islami went to an embassy of a "friendly" country and asked political asylum.
Islami has been sued three times and is accused of complicity in crimes of 1991-1992.

On April 3, 1992, when the last communist president, Ramiz Alia resigned, Islami served as acting president for three days.
During the presidency of Sali Berisha (1992-1997) Islami had no important positions in the government, but from 1997 to 2005 he was an important person in the government again.

In a meeting, held in the headquarters of the Council of Ministers, Islami talked about the economic difficulties the Albanian press went through recently, as well as about the cases where freedoms of press were restricted over the past months.
Islami stressed that in order to give a full and real freedom to the press, the parliament that emerged from the June 29 polls, abrogated the previous law on radio & television, by approving a law which does not recognise anymore cases of freedom's restriction.
Also, Islami reported on the establishment of the Information Department in the Council of Ministers, whose duty is to give its contribution in providing the transparency in the government's activity.

Kastriot Islami, former deputy prime minister in the cabinet of Fatos Nano, accused the Nano's Socialist Party leadership of following a "strategy based on the interests of clans or personal factions instead of that of alternatives."
Recalling the last Socialist Party congress, Islami told reporters, "In the last congress, two groups were featured: that of Nano, and that of Majko - or, to be more precise, the anti-Nano faction within the party.
According to Islami, the compromise deal needs to be analysed and the need for a new alternative alliance within the party should be recognised.

Macedonian Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva and her visiting Albanian counterpart Kastriot Islami told a joint news conference in Skopje on 6 May that the two countries are united in their wish for dynamic cooperation and their common aim to join NATO and the EU, MIA reported.
Mitreva said she hopes the three countries of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter -- Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia -- receive a clear signal for their membership at the upcoming NATO summit in Istanbul.
