DVD Times - Maid Marian and Her Merry Men: The Complete Series Two
Kate Lonergan, Wayne Morris, Danny John-Jules, Mike Edmonds and Howard Lew Lewis are well settled into this series as our heroes; little has changed in terms of their overall performances, though certain characters have been a little more fleshed out than others.
The cast chemistry has always been such a massive part of the series, though it’s clear that Lonergan and Morris were getting the most attention, and understandably so.
Lonergan’s vivacious personality is wonderfully endearing, especially we she goes into her overly excited speeches, while Morris continues to be simply brilliant as the hapless Hood.

Comfort Me With Apples, a CurtainUp London review
Brenda has seemingly escaped but is sucked back in as she tries to untie Roy from their mother's apron strings and get him back together with his ex-girlfriend Linda (Kate Lonergan), who has been squeezed out by Irene's maternal possessiveness.
Though some elements in the story -- overbearing matriarch, return of the prodigal -- are not exactly original, and the outcome not entirely surprising, the richness of the imagery in the writing and the credibility of the family dynamics outweigh any feeling of over-familiarity or predictability.
Peter Hamilton Dyer perfectly captures Roy's sense of divided loyalties, while Helen Schlesinger's confrontational Brenda conveys both anger and hurt that Irene has neglected her while smothering her brother, and Kate Lonergan reveals Linda's sadness that her love for Roy has been cut off in its prime.

maid marian and her merry men: series 1 - review at videovista
Tony Robinson has been the face of popular archaeology for so long now it's easy to forget that his career has taken in a lot more than Time Team and Blackadder.
Kate Lonergan is superb as the supremely bossy Marian and her constant bickering with Wayne Morris' yuppie Robin provides the show with most of its best moments.
However, the other Merry Men all get their fare share of the action, with Mike Edmonds' fight-obsessed little Ron, and Danny John Jules' super-cool Barrington being the real standouts.

DVD Times - Maid Marian and Her Merry Men: The Complete Series One
The real genius however was that Robinson totally rewrote the fable books; he took a legendary figure whose stories had been passed down throughout the generations and turned him into an idiot, while the very woman whom he had always protected turned out to be a natural born, fearless leader.
This role reversal did wonders for the show’s popularity, not least of which I’m sure was providing a solid role model in the form of Kate Lonergan for its many young female viewers.
With Marian formulating the plans that left Robin (a very funny Wayne Morris) to skulk about, run away from trouble, fumble around without a clue and generally just worry about whether or not his hair and threads looked nice.
